Waystation 19314: observed five 2-4th instar caterpillars on my potted milkweed as I watered. As I was watering, I came across a big red wasp killing a 4th instar, which he carried off. I have observed this wasp daily flying closely among the milkweed. The next evening, I found none of the cats that had been on those plants the previous evening. It seems leaving them to "Mother Nature" isn't working out as well for them as previous years when I would bring eggs/hatchlings in to raise.
