Monarch Egg Sighted

Date: 08/09/2021

Number: 10

Great day in my garden!! This afternoon I found eggs on my common and swamp milkweed. I counted about 10! I had a female butterfly eclose this morning, it was raining! Her chrysalis was on the underside of a day lily leaf. She flew away later when the sun came out. A male monarch butterfly was basking in the sun on a common milkweed leaf, he looked pretty vibrant and on patrol. Lastly I found about 6 teeny tiny cats on both swamp and common. I have several 5th instar cats and a few 3rd instar cats! Most chrysalises I find on day lilies and hostas.
