Actually I'm in Massachusetts although my home base is Florida. The hummers are all around here, taking advantage of my feeders, getting ready for the long flight south. Have you ever noticed the black gunk that forms in and around the flower ports where they feed? I used to think that was some dirt they brought. Turns out it's a fungus that affects their respiratory systems and can be deadly. I clean it out with soap and water using the point of a wooden shish que bob skewer to dig it out. Yuck.
