Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/14/2021

Number: 3

I hike a 1.8-mile figure lazy 8 trail on my 35-acre property, usually three times weekly. It passes around and through several fields having naturally converted to grassland. I estimate some 2000 milkweed, Asclepias syriaca, stems. As I walk, I record the sightings of adult monarchs and watch for larvae. I started this project in 2018 and have a spreadsheet indicating my observations year-to-date.
All three adults are a bit smaller than earlier and more brightly colored
