Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/16/2021

Number: 6

11a.m. Hot sunny day with winds 11 MPH from the South. Six monarchs feeding on meadow blazing star, butterfly weed and zinnia. The six include my worn resident Monarch who continues to snatch and grab the others. I watched him swoop in an knock another Monarch to the ground who immediately got away and took off. This old Monarch is very aggressive. He even chased after a cardinal last evening. I think he is trying to mate with males and females and he's been successful with the females at least two of my observations.
