Monarch Egg Sighted

Date: 08/15/2021

Number: 2

2 monarch eggs seen in a patch of milkweed previously located and monitored. None of the 21 caterpillars previously counted were relocated. The milkweed showed very little herbivory, indicating that the caterpillars did not reach full size and, thus, were likely predated (birds?). The 2 eggs found were new and not some of the 5 previously found in the patch given their location and the time since the previous monitoring date.
