Actually, I haven't really counted how many, but I have seen several throughout my milkweed patches laying eggs. I've also seen "new" ones trying out their wings. Right now, I'm fostering three caterpillars, in various instars, and have 8 chrysalis waiting to emerge. I'm also trying to show as many of my community members all stages of the Monarch to get them involved--you can't make people care about something they haven't ever seen.
