Just saw a male ruby sitting on my front feeder but not drinking. Continued to watch through the curtains so he wouldn't see me. About 2 min later a female flew and wanted to land. The male didn't move. She tried 2 more times but the male still stood his ground. Finally the female bravely landed across the feeder and drank the nectar forabout a minute then flew off. The male continued to just sit there keeping watch guarding " his" feeder.
I was tempted to take the feeders down this morning since we have tropical storm warnings. I chose to keep them up and just monitor the wind situation. I'm so glad I didn't take them down!! My back Deck feeder has been busy also.
They all seem to be fattening up!!
