2nd instar larva was collected 8/11. Kept in its own container, separate from other larvae; floral tube used to hold milkweed cuttings. It died today. Cause of death not obvious. Estimated 8% of 2021 captive reared, did not survive. At least two had evidence of tachinid. Others turned black. I do not use chemicals/pesticides.
