I had read an article recently about a study on monarchs deriving some chemical from bone set leaves, something that seems to help with passing along something beneficial in sperm packets, to the female and to offspring--to help with predators?
Forgive me, I can't recall it all....
But they said they were interested in observations of citizen-scientists, specifically when Male monarchs nectared or fed off plants in the asteraceae family.
Now that I know to look, for the last two days, a male monarch-- I'm assuming the same one, as his flight pattern from milkweed to this plant was the same, and at the approximate time of days--- landed on a cosmos flower and appeared to nectar. I couldn't get close enough for a photo because he would flit off.
I'll try to catch him with my cell phone camera.
I'm not sure where to submit the info. So I thought I'd send it here where you might pass it on.
