Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/27/2021

Number: 3

We're seeing very intense drinking from feeders at a second-floor windowbox. The first hummingbird arrived in the dark and rain, just one minute after sunrise. Two hummingbirds that I think may be a late-nesting mother and an early-August baby, plus at least one hummingbird that seemed less familiar with the set-up (4 feeders in a forest of sunflowers, jewelweeds, salvia, and nasturtiums, plus feeders for many other species of birds and two butterfly feeders that also produce fruit files for the hummers) were taking long drinks and coming back many times per hour. They mostly didn't stop on the flowers that had been a main source of nectar for them during the first three weeks of the month.
