Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 08/28/2021

Number: 1100

At 9:20am observed monarchs coming from the north & east & continue west & south above dike across from our home. The dike runs east west & is like a river, man-made in the area to keep it dry. It drains to Lake Erie to the west
In one minute I counted 8 monarchs in directional flight sometimes 2 at the same time. A few stopped to intensely nectar on our property on butterfly bush & ironweed. One stopped to puddle on our damp driveway. This count continued continuously for 2 hrs. Afterward it continued but at a lesser rate of 1 every 2 or 3 minutes.
All appeared pristine.
Sunny & 27°c with feels like of 31. 86% humidity. Uncomfortable!
SW wind @14kmh with 22kmh gusts.
Cold front arrives tomorrow bringing more comfortable temperatures day & overnight.
