Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/28/2021

Number: 6

Our resident ruby throated hummers are still with us, including an adult male, an adult female, 2 juvenile males, and 2 juvenile females. Sometimes, it seems like there are more, so 6 is a conservative number. They continue to feed from both flowers and 7 feeders. Our adult male shifted his location yet again, which is very interesting. He has moved back to the front yard and is in a more hidden, "quiet" spot and doesn't appear to be zipping around to all of the feeders as he had been most of the season. Some of the juveniles are definitely more confident than others. One young female works very hard to maintain control over her feeder. There was a decent amount of chasing and posturing today. It's such a joy to watch them and see them. They will definitely be missed when they leave.
