Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/29/2021

Number: 20

Boys today, many many young males, much more amenable to sharing the feeder. Working three feeders. Last week, larger females, who did not share, but were not as aggressive as the previous wave of older males. The older males drove off feeding competitors beak first in fast dives. The large females tended to hover, feathers out and chattered, moving slowly until the looser gave way and then off with a rush. But it has been years since so many younger birds came in at once. Fine season and hope it augers well for next year.
