Our resident adult male ruby is still with us. He has been shifting his perching vistas the last couple of weeks. He decided to move back to the front yard and has reclaimed his former "throne", a very dominant location in the yard for the hummers. He appears to be quite comfortable and is his usual confident self.
I am seeing our two juvenile ruby males regularly at our window feeder. You can tell that one is from the first nest and the other is from the second. The one from the first nest is looking rather good. The one from the second nest is still just a bit scrawny and doesn't have his polished look quite yet.
We have two juvenile ruby females as well. They are very beautiful rubies and are coming along nicely. One actually regularly challenges our resident male. It is obvious that she really wants that spot/feeder.
The only one that I'm not 100% sure is still here is our resident female mama hummer. She is much more elusive than our resident adult male; however, I'm not seeing her at our window feeder as often as I usually do which does make me wonder if she has left on migration already. I'm keeping a close watch for her.
It is been so hot and dry in our area. I'm sure the birds would like to see some rain as much as we would.
