So exciting because this is the first one I've seen here in 1.5 years, and a little early. Because it is a little early, grabbed the binoculars to make sure, definitely a Monarch! I watched it fly among the purple flowers in my rurul back yard, no doubt having a drink before continuing Southwest, destinatiation, incredibly, Mexico!
This was around 7:10 (CST), I watched her for about 5 minutes. She was only halfway down the hill when I lost her. That area is well over an acre and it's almost dark. She might be spending the night night down there
