His developing gorget barely in view, this juvenile male feeds and scans the skies. He seems to get plumper by the day, readying for the trip from south Louisiana to Central America. Our visiting hummer population has skyrocketed here since Monday morning. It's possible that we may be hosting more than 15 migrating hummers. There are 11 feeders all spread out on corners of our property which I'm refilling every two days.
