Monarchs have been breeding here and laying eggs on milkweed since early July, that I know of. My milkweed patch (native) has been lush since early July. Mature Monarch females were observed again this week laying eggs. I have eggs and small caterpillars on my milkweed now, though it is past blooming. Also what looks like a small hoverfly. Neighbors nearby in Pismo Beach and in Nipomo are still asking who has milkweed for their hungry caterpillars.
