Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 08/31/2021

Number: 3

The first larva sighted was 8/30. Since then have seen 4 large Larvae and 5 , 1 inch or smaller. Unfortunately saw 2 that were dying from virus or bacteria, were turning black. Did not see any of that last year. All were on common milkweed. Am seeing a number of brightly colored Monarch but also a few very tattered . During this period of time still seeing a few breeding pairs. Am wondering if the harsh rains have been a factor in numbers observed. The Adults are still feeding on Brazilian verbena and butterfly bushes.
