Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/03/2021

Number: 1

Behind Arcade's rural post office is a large field filled with milkweed and other sun loving plants. I stopped by to look for monarchs.

The milkweed is aging and with pods now, so I didn't think I would find any larvae but I did! I had no camera.

With the days getting shorter and the nights getting cooler, I decided to captive rear this larva so it will have better chance to develop into an adult monarch in time to migrate to Mexico.

I also saw one adult monarch over the field, which I will report.
