Monarch depositing an egg under a whorled milkweed leaf. This individual is in proximity to the pair previously recorded and may represent the same female/behavior, but a more focused image.
Along the Rio Grande, monarchs are typically shy/cautious when approached, flying often and intermixing among the more common queens or an occasional viceroy. An individual may be difficult to follow for a sustained amount of time.
