Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/05/2021

Number: 10

Surprised to see so many adults flying by (over water) on a steady breeze.

[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/09/21]:
I saw all of the butterflies over about a 20 minute span. This was around 12-12.30 pm. We were standing at the edge of a pond in the Adirondacks and there was a gentle breeze from the west. Hard to say that it was directional flight as opposed to going with the wind. We saw all of the butterflies from the same spot; we did not need to move around. Other than the wind, it was a mild, overcast day. It began raining about an hour later. Regrettably, I did not take any pictures.

Just FYI, there was a single loon on the pond.
