49 counted flying high & straight southbound between 7:15 and 7:48 pm. Three instances of pairs doing a circle dance.

[Report moved from Monarch Adult Sighted to Monarch PEAK Migration, 09/08/2021; additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/09/21]:
I was on the beach in Harbert Michigan 49115 when I noticed a monarch, then another, then a pair, etc through the time I was observing, so I would call it a steady trickle over the 30 minutes or so. Directional flight for the most part, with the exception of 3 instances of pairs circle dancing. The wind was light from the north, the sky was clear, temperature was probably about 70F. The weather turned the next day,to southerly winds & thunderstorms. Sorry - no photos. They were mostly flying fairly high, but I didn’t have a camera anyway. Some of the neighbors were also on the beach & thanked me for pointing to the sky every time I saw one, so they could enjoy the flight too. They told me last year they ‘were doing yoga on the deck’ and looked up to see a roost in a tree overhead. I hope to see more events in the next few weeks, and I will make my reports as detailed as possible.
