Saw NUMEROUS Monarch butterflies all along the shore & campground while biking today @ Hammonasset State Park.
[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/10/21]:
We were biking along the shore & in the campground late morning over a 2 hour time frame. That day there was no wind, 70 drgrees. The butterflies we saw were either nectaring (the Meigs Point Nature Center has a huge garden for butterflies) or along the paths & road or just flying by in what I believe was southbound. Regardless of where we saw them they seemed to all be going in the same direction. We would see a butterfly fly by every few minutes. We were there biking also today, late morning over a 2 hour time frame, but today was very windy, 70 degrees. We still did see Monarchs, but there were less, not sure if the wind played a factor, but again, they all seemed to be flying in 1 direction, southbound along the coast.
