Adult butterflies were sparse this summer even in our nectar flowers, or on the blooming milkweed patch. We have seen 2 or 3 adults in early September. Today I saw the 1st crysallis this year. Overalll have a very large patch of milkweed maybe 5,000 square feet and very few monarchs.
