Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/08/2021

Number: 9

I saw 9 different Adults flying mostly west but a little SW taking advantage of the Northerly winds. I saw this in the space of about 45 minutes while I was playing golf. It's possible that way more than that flew past here

[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/13/21]:

The 9 count day was at about 1:30 pm. I was playing mini-golf with my daughters and we noticed them flying by, one after the other every few minutes. I notice the most activity during migration season around lunch time, with fewer as the day progresses.

All 9 were in the same area, about 30 or so feet away from 179th street flying west. The area where the mini-golf course is located also has a very large prairie both north and west of the golf course. I suspect they were flying west to nectar on the goldenrod in the prairie. There was a NW wind and it was quite breezy when I observed the 9 flying, alot of gliding and not alot of wing flapping.
