I was at the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cooperstown, NY for five hours. Every few minutes a single monarch came flying through just above the heads of the crowd heading south.
[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/21/21]:
I was there from 11 am to 4 pm in a large open area that was covered by people in lawn chairs. The monarchs were flying alone and were six to ten feet above the ground flying south southwest. I stopped counting after ten monarchs so my number is a guess/estimate. The time started off sunny but clouds moved in later in the afternoon. A slight breeze was blowing from the southwest in the morning and increased in speed just before 4 pm as a storm was moving in.
