Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/08/2021

Number: 5

5 or 6 monarchs at a time seen moving sw along the lakeshore.

[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/11/21]:

I was working on my boat at a marina when I happened to notice what is a large number for the area. I go there quite often and rarely have seen more than one or two in the time it takes me to rig or derig my sailboat, or bail it (about 20 mins.). This time, I noticed those 5 or 6 in a 5 minute span. It was late morning and the wind was high. The butterflies were bouncing around and riding the wind up and down, with one going quite high and getting blown back behind some trees. The 5 or 6 is a guesstimate as their behaviour made it difficult to ensure all 5 were in a single field of view. Sorry, but I was focused on other things and only noted the Monarchs as a side observation.
