Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/09/2021

Number: 1

I hadn't been able to make any observations yesterday as it was raining.   Today I made a quick survey of our various milkweeds to see if any Monarch caterpillars still remained before rain started again.   I didn't find any of the previous caterpillars I'd spotted recently.   But I did find a "new" caterpillar on a small, heavily stripped swamp milkweed (which has had a minimal fence around it, as seen on the left portion of the photograph) near the southwest corner of our yard.   Since there wasn't much left to eat on that plant, I moved the caterpillar to a larger, fuller nearby swamp milkweed.   That's where he appears in the right portion of the included photograph.

This was at about 2:10 PM with overcast skies, wind from the west at about 12 mph, and a light rain beginning to fall.   Other weather conditions were:

  • Temperature:
  • 63°F

  • Dewpoint:

  • Humidity:

  • Air Pressure:

  • LATITUDE:
