This morning, slightly past 10:00 AM, an adult female Monarch butterfly came fluttering into our front yard. It initially landed on and began nectaring from some swamp milkweed flowers. It then flew up and landed on the leaves of a nearby ornamental pear tree. I guess she was resting and warming up as she sat with her wings spread open. After a few minutes, it flew around the west side of our house and proceeded to begin nectaring on some cone flowers in our back yard. Eventually she disappeared off to the southwest.
