[Report moved from Monarch PEAK Migration to Monarch Fall Roost; additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/10/21]:
We only arrived in the area on 9/9/21, so we don't know when they first appeared, though we've heard that others have been seeing them along Lake Michigan in Manitowoc for a couple weeks. The community has been active in planting for butterflies, particularly the people at Woodland Dunes (nature preserve) in Two Rivers. They were there again tonight (9/10/21) nectaring in the goldenrod and roosting in the tree, (9/10/21), but only 40 or so. We didn't actually try to count, but looking at the pictures we took, we figured around 100 in 4 or 5 sections of the tree. They were on the inland side of the [spruce] tree shielded from the lake winds.
