Bald Eagle
Sightings report image

Date: 09/10/2021

Number: 1

today this single adult eagle perched at the huge black cottonwood on the eastern shore of the Kennebec River. the eagle was on a dead branch at very top of tree seldom used by the resident eagles which usually perch some several feet lower on a more horizontal branch. this choice today perhaps for a better orientation toward the mid morning sun while preening? passing drivers stopped to chat with us while we attempted good images from the middle of the street.
