Dozens of monarchs flew in from the field of goldenrods and other flowers into the trees at Holy Wisdom Monastery that border that North Mendota Wildlife Area Prairie Unit. Similar numbers were seen the night before as well. Most were in clusters in the oak trees, around 20-30 feet overhead. They flew in steadily between around 6:35-7:05 pm, right at sunset.
