This large female has been feeding solo all day long among the dozen yellow milkweed plants surrounding our property. She hasn't laid any eggs and she rests in the oak trees. Her wings are in perfect shape, untattered by any harsh weather experienced east of here in southeast Louisiana two weeks ago. That makes me think that she hasn't been traveling from very far away. We haven't seen any monarchs for four months, since the first week of May, but the cooler morning temps of today (84 degrees F) and the light northwesterly winds may be the impetus for her movement.
