Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/10/2021

Number: 58

Observed 58 monarch larvae in both front and back gardens. Larvae are feeding on Common Milkweed, Purple Milkweed, and Tropical Milkweed. Most are instar 4th and 5th instar, some are 1st, second, and 3rd instar. Most of my milkweed plants have been completely defoliated from herbivory. Found 2 "J" hook larvae today. One on the side of my house and one on a young willow oak. Only one male monarch remains patrolling the backyard garden. Waystation #35670. No Pics taken.
