Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/10/2021

Number: 1

At about 1:13 PM, while I was making some minor repairs on our deck, an adult Monarch butterfly came fluttering by.   It briefly "examined" from a short distance some of the flowers (mostly the caryopteris and cone flowers) growing along our deck; but it never landed on any.   It then continued flying west across our neighbor's yard and eventually out of sight.   This all took less than a minute; no time for photos or determining gender.

Over the course of the rest of the afternoon, I was briefly visited by a Monarch butterfly at least three times; the last one left our yard heading east.   None ever landed.   Whether it was a different butterfly each time or the same one repeatedly cruising the neighborhood, who's to say ... since they refuse to wear name tags or formally introduce themselves.

When this began the skies were partly cloudy with a 14 mph breeze blowing from the WNW.   Other weather conditions were:

  • LONGITUDE:
