Monarch Egg Sighted

Date: 09/11/2021

Number: 3

Henrietta (any Monarch that hangs for more than half an hour departs with a moniker) spent a lovely afternoon among the 8 foot tall Mexican Sunflowers. She passed the time with various pollinators of the bee persuasion, allowing them to share the bounty atop the tallest flower, but did not yield her position for 27 minutes. Finally, she took flight, briefly do-si-doing with 2 other Monarchs (fast & vertical flight so I couldn’t sex them as I’m new to that skill set) avoided the female hummer on the Blue Salvia, and departed.

Second shot - just because a sound asleep bee (only the right foreleg gripping) on a persimmon orange sunflower is a sight of such delight. Had to share.
