These 9 monarchs arrived separately at a milkweed/goldenrod patch on our front hill in late morning. The first three (2 female, 1 male) stayed near each other on several close plants for two-plus hours. They were joined by another female, and then a fifth monarch of unknown sex. The other four passed through the area while we were watching. (We hoped to see if they departed together -- but had to leave before they tired of feeding and "socializing"!)
