Two adult monarchs, both at butterfly bush, one this morning and another this afternoon, are the first monarchs seen in two days. Observed location total approximately 25 minutes in morning, and occasional brief looks after noon. Pictured is first one, which is the first female identified here in over a week. Overnight temp was upper 50's (F) and over an inch of early a.m. rain, high winds and gusts especially afternoon and was amazed to see the one easily fly in and even travel directly against such high winds while nectaring and in surrounding area. Yesterday's overnight temp was 42°F.
