Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/14/2021

Number: 4

I know we have at least 4, but I think there are actually a few more than that. Today was interesting as our residents were very stirred up. Several of the resident juvenile females were in a tizzy and were very actively chasing and battling what I believe was at least one traveler, maybe more. There was lots of fighting and acrobatic activity today. One of the resident juvenile females decided she needed a break and rested at our somewhat hidden patio window feeder. She literally perched there for 10+ minutes, squeaking to me much of the time. Our mama hummer is still here, but manages to stay out of the mess most of the time. As reported previously, our resident male adult left on the 7th.

They were all very busy at the feeders and flowers today. I also observed them going after lots of insects around the trees and just up in the air. I hope they are all resting well tonight after their very busy day. I sure will miss them when they leave for the winter.
