Single monarch caterpillar foraging from whorled milkweed stems and leaves. At this time, milkweed plants are not producing flowers but rather have green fruits, mature/dry fruits, or are disseminating seeds. Rio Grande flow at this site is shallow, all from upriver discharge of City of Las Cruces wastewater.
