Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 09/12/2021

Number: 1

This was the last day I saw any hummingbirds in the yard or at the feeders. The total of residents had dwindled to just one for around a week, after tons of duels, jousts, chases and yelling.

I'm thinking it was the resident adult female, and she was still nectaring at hibiscus, petered-out bee balm, and some long, still-flowering radish plants, which I let go to seed just for them, since I found out it's a favorite of theirs. Most of the battles were over feeders, though.

I'll keep my feeders clean, full, and out until October 1st--per best practices.

It was a fun year, and I got to observe all kinds of hummingbird activity that I was previously ignorant of!
