Date: 09/17/2021

Number: 45

Another small group filtered in just before sunset tonight. It was a very warm day with the high temperature approaching 90F and a breeze from the SW at around 5 mph. Humidity jumped to the 50% range in the afternoon. By sunset, conditions were calm with perfectly clear skies and a little haze. Heading for a low of around 60F tonight.
The vast majority of the visitors tonight preferred the large Silver Maple tree and gathered mostly in pairs on the lowest hanging (6'-8' off the ground) branches. At least 10 groups of two were observed scattered around the perimeter. There were also a few noted in the Callery pear, American arborvitae and mulberry trees. These were also found in the lower branches.
Active nectaring on the Tithonia and Cosmos during the day, with many continuing right until dark. Bright moon tonight.
