Point Pelee National Park at the Tip 5:50-7:55pm Sunset 7:33pm
22°c Sunny with NNE wind at 25/46kmh
Daytime high 25. Overnight low 15c
Upon arrival no clusters were formed. Walking west path observed a few monarchs arrive from the west over the lake, settle on Hackberry, bask & take off into the interior trees at Tip.
At 6:45 I had a count of 17.
1 nectared on Goldenrod.
Asters are beginning to bloom.
Around 6:50 they just started flying in from every direction. We were doing 360° trying to count them all. Some from the west right off the lake & others from the north way high like 80+' over treetops.
7:20 located numerous established clusters on sw side of their favorite Hackberry Tree at Tip.
With sunset near, quickly returned north to shuttle stop 7:30 where a beautiful cluster of about 200 was high up in Hackberry Tree.
Monarchs continued to arrive.
An exciting fast paced 25 minutes! Visitors were delighted.
All appeared pristine. Looking at photos 1 had a v cut in lower wing.
Observations with binoculars, camera & clicker.
