I took my 2 mile walk to 8 locations that I monitor between 1:30 PM and 4 PM, and counted 6 monarchs. I observed 3 monarchs on a blueish flowered butterfly bush and was able to net and tag all males (ACWM-409 to ACWM-411). Later, I observed a female monarch on a blue aster flower. She was very tame when I netted and tagged her (ACWM-412). I was able to put her back on the flowers where she just kept on nectaring while I photographed her! I also saw 2 monarchs in town flying high southward against a strong wind. I met my friend (Larry) at about 3:30 PM, and he had seen one monarch at the harbor, and another one just south of downtown earlier in the afternoon. Back at my house, I saw no monarchs in my gardens to 7:15 PM. The weather today was 100% sunshine with the Wind ESE-11 MPH. The Temperature topped out at 72F.
