Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/20/2021

Number: 23

Temp 82 degrees calm winds cloudy with a large thunderstorm developing overhead @ 5:11pm. We currently have 23 feeding all over the yard on multiple plants (butterfly bushes, Mexican sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos).

I'm watching as they are leaving due to large raindrops. They are roosting in the neighbors Burch Tree. Pretty exciting to see this play out going from feeding one minute then straight up into the tree to take shelter.

[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/21/21]:

These were spotted in a 10 minute window in our backyard butterfly garden.
