I counted six adult monarchs that all emerged today from my front yard rain garden. All appeared to survive their first flights. I cannot say if there were more. Photo shows one (at right) hardening its wings in the tall grass having emerged from its chrysalis (at left). All the caterpillars have now eaten their fill and dispersed to pupate. None remain on the milkweed, although there are numerous caterpillars of milkweed tussock moth.
