Signs of Fall

Date: 09/22/2021

Number: 1

Today after work I stopped home, but only for a minute so I left the garage door open. When going to leave again, I heard some rustling that I assumed was due to our strong winds and the leaves blowing. Hearing it again, I took a look and noticed a small bird had gotten in. It did not seem afraid at all. In fact, it let me very slowly approach it to try to coax it out. I got within about a foot of it before it flew away and I was able to identify that it was a hermit thrush. I know a huge bird migration is pushing through the Midwest with these temperature changes and the strong north winds and believe this one stopped by to feast on some of my berry shrubs. It was very sweet to see one in person.
