Nectaring on Liatris. I think these were resident, not migratory from northern latitudes. It is very dry here and the Liatris just started blooming. It is a attracting a lot of nectar-feeding insects.
Another interesting was one Monarch harassing another, similar to the way hummingbirds fight over food. It could also have been some kind of mating habit.
