I went out at sunrise to check the roosting monarchs. They stayed quiet until the sun warmed them up and then they started opening their wings. Slowly they started flying. Some perched on other trees and several went to my flowers particularly the nearby large zinnias. By 1100 the majority had moved on. I will see if any roosting happens this evening. Here is a photo of them sunning their wings. Champaign County, 9/23/2021.
